Odontomachus（大齿猛蚁）和 Anochetus（钩猛蚁）属于猛蚁亚科ponerine ,而Orectognathus 和 Strumigenys(六节蚁) 属于切叶蚁亚科myrmicines. 4个属都是高度转化的种类，而它们的上颚都可以展开180度，同样是通过上颚的几根长毛触发上颚瞬间闭合。
